On Friday April 16th, several compassionate community members adopted rooms at Native American Connections' Guiding Star!
Through NAC's Adopt-A-Room program, community members were able to give new life to client rooms at Guiding Star and hope to courageous women who have chosen to embark on the path to recovery.
The Moreno and Qunitana Family had the first room at Guiding Star to be painted through the Adopt-A-Room program, raising the bar for future adoptors! The room was decorated in honor of a family member who passed on and had committed her life to helping those in recovery. It turned out beautifully and is pictured to the right.
NAC extends our gratitude to all those who have given their time, energy and hearts to this project! Rooms were also adopted by Henkel Professional Women's Forum, Gila River Indian Community Law Office, NAC Board Members and several friends of NAC.
Seven rooms were adopted by generous community members bringing the total number of rooms adopted since the December kick-off to 14 rooms! That leaves a little over half of the rooms at Guiding Star waiting to be adopted!
NAC's goal is to have all 32 rooms at Guiding Start adopted by the end of the year. To help make that possible and show your support for the Native community, the recovery community or the women in the community who have suffered domestic violence, contact Marisa Arellano Velazquez at 602-254-3247 or at m.arellano@nativeconnections.org
