Clinical Supervisor at NAC Furthers Professional Development

07.15.10

Native American Connections (NAC) congratulates Steve Longhi, Clinical Supervisor at Indian Rehabilitation, NAC's state licensed residential treatment center for men in recovery from substance abuse and co-occurring disorders, for furthering his professional development by receiving a new license!

Steve currently holds a Master of Arts degree in Counseling with a specialization in Professional Counseling and is a Licensed Independent Substance Abuse Counselor (LISAC). He recently finished his supervision requirements to obtain his LPC, now making him a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners.

Steve has been licensed since 1995 as a substance abuse counselor with the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners and has been with NAC for almost three years. He became interested in working with the Native community through his previous work at the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence and Valle del Sol. He has referred clients to NAC in the past who were interested in supplementing their recovery with traditional Native healing ceremonies such as sweat lodges, which led him to Native American Connections. He became increasingly interested in blending best practices with traditional Native healing practices, which NAC has been able to do successfully. His position at Indian Rehabilitation turned out to be a great fit!

Great job Steve!
